Improving Peel's Land-Use Plan

Background

ROPA 15 was passed by Peel Regional Council on June 16, 2005.

This plan outlines the future for land-use planning, preservation of natural areas, and transportation.

We feel that ROPA 15 lacks the components to create a sustainable community.

Goals

The amendment of ROPA 15 such that it prevents urban sprawl, protects natural areas, and preserves prime agricultural land.

Progress

As of 2008-06-11 — We have been successful in securing five major modifications to ROPA 15 that protect natural areas, reduce or reverse urban sprawl, and protect fine agricultural land.

We are continuously monitoring progress, and are meeting regularly with Mayor Fennell and planning director John Corbett.
